  Responsibilities
 
Lead in managing misconduct reported, poor performance cases, corporate restructuring, improving Industrial Relations (IR) awareness and knowledge among business managers and employees, handling employee grievances, union matters, collective agreement bargaining in an effective and efficient manner so as to preserve good employee relations and industrial harmony.

Also responsible for shaping policies and IR issues for the Group and ensuring legal compliance of all actions in this domain.

  • Manage and supervise the IR team to achieve goals within available resources; plans and organises workloads and staff assignment, trains, motivates and evaluates assigned staff, review progress and directs changes as required
  • Advise and support the management team to ensure that the IR processes, procedures and mechanisms are respected and followed
  • Manage disciplinary and grievances related issues by conducting disciplinary inquiry where an allegation of a misconduct has been reported i.e. case investigation, draft and issue show cause letters, case preparation for domestic inquiries and recommend appropriate disciplinary action where necessary
  • Ensure communication processes are systematically and timely executed for those who are identified as poor performing employees via Performance Improvement Plan (PIP)
  • Update, revise or implement IR policies and procedures for improvement and effectiveness and in accordance with the law
  • Organise or conduct IR related training for subsidiary Human Resources Managers / Business Managers
  • Prepare and organise collective bargaining with Union and subsequently ensure negotiation’s agreements are respected by all parties
  • Handle grievance raised by employees, escalate and resolve them
  • Update the IR database and report IR issues to management from time to time
 
  Requirements
 
  • Possess a Bachelor Degree in Law, Social Science or related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years related working experience in Human Resources with 7 years in managerial capacity in Industrial Relations functions
  • Strong understanding of Malaysian Employment Law including Employment Act, Industrial Relations Act, managing poor performance and disciplinary inquiry
  • Strong analytical, drafting and presentation skills
  • Excellent command of both English and Bahasa Malaysia languages
