  Responsibilities
 
Provide Desktop Support
  • Install and support desktop computers, notebooks and printers in staff and student areas.
  • Provide technical support and advice on the MUSC Standard Operating Environment and services such as web browsers, email, Microsoft Office and Windows XP/Windows 7 operating system.
  • Ensure that prompt, professional and courteous service is provided and maintained for both personal, telephone and remote desktop support.
  • Promote the efficient use of IT facilities and technology within MUSC.



    Computer Lab Administration
  • Maintain and ensure all equipment in the computer labs are in proper operating condition.
  • Monitor the usage of the labs and ensure computer lab rules and policies are adhered to by students.
  • Provide efficient, polite, responsive and customer-oriented services to students.
  • Manage computer lab operations to ensure labs are opened and closed on time and provide extended hours of services as and when required.
  • Provide software support in the computer lab and to staff including installation, configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Provide support for printing facilities within computer labs and ensure the printers function properly.


    Provide Asset Management Support
  • Conduct annual IT asset inventory audit while ensuring the asset database is updated.
  • Ensure information in asset database is accurate and up-to-date.


    Team membership and support for unit and campus goals
  • Maintain good general knowledge of the organizational structure and understanding of the objectives of the ITS unit, Sunway campus and University policies and procedures.
  • As directed by the Senior IT Executive – Support :-
  • Contribute to the achievement of unit objectives specified in the ITS Annual Development Plan (ADP).
  • Meet quality standards specified in the ITS Service Level Statement (SLS).
  • Report on progress against objectives and standards.
  • Explore, evaluate and recommend opportunities to contribute to the continuous improvement of the support and services provided by ITS.
  • Promote efficient use of IT facilities and technology with stakeholders.
  • Participate in the campus performance management and development scheme.

      Requirements
     
  • Candidate must possess at least a Diploma or Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year hands-on experience in trouble-shooting and end-user support will be an added advantage.
  • Very good working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows and Office suites, and software such as client software used for accessing the Intranet and Internet.
  • Good working knowledge of networks and wireless technologies.
  • Good working knowledge of PC hardware including mobile technologies (notebooks and mobile phones).
  • Knowledge of Linux will be an added advantage.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment.
