The Senior Infrastructure manager works within a highly technical team supporting the campus IT infrastructure for the campus. The incumbent is responsible for:-
a) Lead and develop the Infrastructure sub unit.
b) Managing 3 direct reports to lead a team of 11.
c) Providing strategic advice and support to the unit, administrative units and schools on IT related matters.
d) Manage and develop internal and external relationships aligned with campus and ITS unit goals.

Leadership and management

  • Leading and managing a highly technical team, to meet and exceed the unit’s goals and development plans, as stipulated in approved Unit's Service Level Statement (SLS) and Annual Development Plan (ADP).
  • To implement project management principles in deployment of projects, while regularly reporting on progress and service quality.
  • To keep abreast of developments in IT industry, to make recommendations and improvements to continuously enhance and develop unit services and operations, while potentially reducing unit’s capital and operational expenditure.
  • Provide strategic and expert technical advice to continuously enhance and develop Unit services and operations, while potentially lowering unit’s capital and operational costs.

    Staff Management

  • Manage team to:
    o Achieve objectives of units Annual Development Plan.
    o Meet or exceed units Service Level Statements.
    o Report on sub units service delivery and key performance indicators.

  • Coach team leaders and members to achieve operational goals and objectives as a team.
  • Manage human resources issues ensuring that the sub units are adequately staffed, that position descriptions are maintained and that performance development processes are observed.

    IT Services Management

  • Deploy and implement IT services based on industry standard management practice frameworks.
  • Ensure that all relevant Sunway campus policies and business rules are observed at all times.
  • Ensure that the ITS Data Center and the ITS Disaster Recovery Center are operating at optimum level, with the highest level of resiliency to ensure continuous operations.

    Internal Relationship Management

  • Managing and developing internal relationships with counterparts in Monash University Australia to keep abreast with the Universities IT directions and strategies.
  • Work closely with Sunway Group IT and participate in Group’s IT projects that benefit MUSC and Sunway Group as a whole.

    External Relationship Management

  • To manage and coordinate with respective suppliers and external parties for various IT projects.
  • Represent unit in engagements with vendors and government bodies.
  • A degree in Information Technology or related discipline, or demonstrated achievement in IT service management.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in managing highly technical teams within an IT department.
  • Demonstrate expert technical knowledge of IT industry, current technologies and trends.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational and management skills.
  • Highly motivated, committed and result oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and ensure timely delivery of projects and services.
  • Very good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
